Dear Brothers in Faith, As Salamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatahu.

We are glad to announce that by the grace of Almighty Allah (swt), we have entered into an agreement of procuring a plot to build and run a Mehdavia Jamat Khana (Community Hall) to cater to the socio-religious activities of The Mehdavia Community dwelling in south Bangalore.

According to an estimate there are more than 500 Mehdavia families residing in South Bangalore, in and around Bismillahnagar (in a radius of 3 kms). Almost all of them have migrated here to earn there livelihood from Channapatna, Palacode, Mandya, Kirgaval, Bannur, Mysore, Bhadravati and other parts of the country.

As the Mehdavia Population grew year by year, the need to organize taraveeh and Lailatul Qadr prayers in this vicinity was felt. We used to hire community halls for the same. Needless to say that other religious activites viz. 5 times daily prayers in congregation, behr e aam were all non-existing, as other existing Mehdavia Jamat Khanas in Bangalore are located as far as 9 to 15 KMs away. Since most of the dwellers in this region are of middle class families they don't have means to reach to the Jamat Khanas especially for the ladies. But from past couple of years, we are facing problems even to hire the community halls for this purpose.

This dire situation of Mehdavis in this region caused the youth to get together, kindled a flame of desire in their hearts to take hold of the situation to address the need of the community. As a result "Muslim Mehdavia Foundation" was formed.

A public meeting was organized in the month of April to find an answer to this vexing situation. It was unanimously decided in the meeting to take the initiative of building our own place of worship, Jamaat Khana, in south Bangalore. That would not only cater to the need of Ramazan prayers but also would serve as a mosque - for the purpose of offering daily namaz, Behr-e-Aam, Eidain and as a deeni madrasa.

As the phrase says “Himmat-e- Mardan Madad-e-Khuda”, The Almighty guided us. A suitable plot was identified measuring 1128 sqft (@ Rs.4450 / Sqft) in Bhavani Layout. Amount of Rs.25,000 was paid as token advance on 9th May, 2011. The total value of the plot is Rs.50,19,600/- (+ Lawyer fee + Registration Fee). It was decided that 15 lakhs be paid in one month to sign the agreement and the remaining amount in further three months time to get the site registered. Our only capital at this point of time was the teaching and practice of Khathimain (ahs), i.e; Tawakkal.

Alhamdulillah, by the mercy of The Almighty, and the benevolence of Khatimain (ahs) we are delighted to announce that agreement amount Rs. 15 Lakhs was collected and agreement was signed on 10th June. May The Almighty shower his choicest blessings on the people who extravagantly contributed to this good cause. Without their support and active involvement we couldn't have reached this daunting task.

Our next target is to mobilize Rs.40,00,000/- to finalise the deal by registering the property. As per the agreement we have to pay the remaining amount and get the registration done within 3 months of the date of agreement i.e; 10 September 2011. The target is huge but achievable if we were not time restricted. As the project is time bound we humbly request every Mehdavi brother and sister across the globe to lend a helping hand and to come forward and join hands with us to build a community hall in south Bangalore to strive towards strengthening the faith, to create undisputed solidarity among all Mehdavis, and serve the Mehdavia Community to maintain our identity as a mehdavi. And help us spread this message to others to mobilize charity.

मेरे प्रिय भाइयों और बहनों,

अस सलाम अलैकुम व रह्मतुल्लाही व बरकताहू.

तुम्हे ये जानकार बहुत ख़ुशी होगी के, अल्लाह सुभानावाताला के करम से, हम लोग दक्षिण बैंगलोर में जमात खाने केलिए एक जगह खरीदने का अग्रीमेंट किये हैं. जू दक्षिण बंगलूर में रहनेवाले मेह्दाविया समुदाय के सामाजिक – धार्मिक गतिविधियों को पूरा करेगा.

एक अनुमान के अनुसार, दक्षिण बंगलौर के बिस्मिल्लाह्नगर में और उसके आसपास (3KMs की रेडियस में) 500 से अधिक मेह्दाविया परिवार रहते हैं. उनमें से लगभग सभी लोग यहां पर अपनी रोज़ी रोटी के लिए चन्नपटना, पलाकोदे , मंड्या, किर्गावल , बन्नुर , मैसूर, भद्रावती और देश के अन्य भागों से आ कर बसे हैं.

वर्ष से वर्ष जैसे मेह्दाविया जनसंख्या में वृद्धि हुई है, इस क्षेत्र में तरावीह और लैलातुल खादर की नमाज़ों को आयोजित करने की आवश्यकता महसूस किया गया. हम उसी के लिए सामुदायिक हॉल किराये पर लेना शुरू किया. क्यों कि अन्य बंगलौर में मौजूदा मेह्दाविया जमात खाने 9 से 15 KMs की दूरी पर हैं. और चूंकि इस क्षेत्र में रहने वाले लोगों में सबसे अधिक मध्यम वर्ग के परिवारों के हैं वे विशेष रूप से महिलाओं के लिए जमात खानों तक पहुँचने का माध्यम नहीं है.

कहने की जरूरत नहीं है कि अन्य धार्मिक गतिविधियों जैसे, दैनिक 5 वक़्त की नमाज़, जुम्मा की नमाज़, बहर-ए-आम सभी गैर मौजूदा हैं. लेकिन पिछले दो वर्षों से हम इस उद्देश्य के लिए सामुदायिक हॉल का किराया पर लेने के लिए भी समस्याओं का सामना कर रहे हैं.

इस क्षेत्र में मेह्दाविओं की इस गंभीर स्थिति को हल करने के लिए उनके नौजवानों के दिलों में इच्छा की आग जगी के खौम की ऐसी स्थिति और ज़रूरतों का हल हो, इसका एक परिणाम के रूप में ”मुस्लिम मेह्दाविया फाउंडेशन ” का वजूद हुवा.

इस अप्रिय स्थिति का जवाब खोजने के लिए अप्रैल के महीने में एक जन-सभा का आयोजन किया गया. इस बैठक में यह सर्व सम्मति से ये निर्णय लिया गया के दक्षिण बंगलूर में इबादत के लिए हमारी अपनी जगह, जमात खाना, के निर्माण की पहल करें. यह केवल रमज़ान नमाज़ों की जरूरत को पूरा नहीं लेकिन यह एक मस्जिद के रूप में भी काम करेगा, जैसे – दैनिक नमाज, बेहर-ए-आम, ईदों के प्रयोजन के लिए और एक दीनी मदरसे के रूप में भी काम आयेगा.

जैसा के ये कहावत है “हिम्मत-ए-मर्दान, मदत-ए-खुदा”, अल्लाह तआला हमें भवानी लेऔट में एक ऐसी उपयुक्त जगह दिखाई जो सभी इलाकों के केंद्र में है,पार्किंग के लिए अच्छी जगह है, मेन-रोड से खरीब है. शांतिपूर्ण इलाके में है.

इस जगह का विस्तार 1128 sqft है. यह जगह Rs. 4450 /- प्रति sqft . और 9 माय, 2011 कु Rs. 25000/- टोकन अडवांस किये. जगह का टोटल मूल्य Rs. 50,19,600/- है (+ वकील की फीस + पंजीकरण फीस). यह निर्णय लिया गया कि एक महीने में 15 लाख रुपये भुगतान किया जाये और जगह कु अग्रीमेंट करलें. और अग्रीमेंट के बाद तीन महीने का समय में बाखी रखम अदा करके प्रोपर्टी पंजीकरण करलें. उस वक़्त हमारे पास केवल रसूल व मेहदी (ahs) की शिक्षा यानि तावाक्कल के सिवा कुछ नहीं था.

हमें ये बताते हुवे कुशी हो राहि हैं कि ,अल्हम्दुलिल्लाह , अल्लाह के रहेम और करम से, और रसूल व मेहदी अलैहिस-सलाम के सदखे से, हम 10 जून 2011 कु 15 लाख रुपये अदा किये और अग्रीमेंट दस्तखत हुगाया.

अल्लाह उन सब पर अपनी रहमत बरसाए, और उन लोगों के घरों में बरकत दे जिन्हों ने इस काम में बड-चड कर हिस्सा लिया और दान किया. उनके समर्थन और सक्रिय भागीदारी के बिना हम इस चुनौती-पूर्ण काम कु अंजाम नहीं दे सकते थे.

हमारा अगला लक्ष्य 40,00,000 / रुपये जुटाने है जिस से हम प्रोपर्टी की रेगिस्टर का सौदापक्का करलें. अग्रीमेंट के अनुसार हम बखि रखम अग्रीमेंट के ३ महीने के भीतर पंजीकरण करना है, यानि 10 सितंबर 2011. हमाराये लक्ष्य बहुत बड़ा है लेकिन हम हासिल कर्सक्ते है, बस सिर्फ समय की सीमा है. जैसा के ये प्रोजेक्ट समय-बद्ध है, हम यहाँ पर मौजूद हर मेह्दावी और दुनिया भर में रेहेने वाले भाई बहेनों से गुज़ारिश करते हैं के आगे आयें और ऐसी स्थिथि में हमारी मदद करें. और दक्षिण बैंगलोर में एक जमात खाना बनाने में हमारा सहायता करें.

और हम आप सब कु आमंत्रित करते हैं कि, आप हमें में शामिल होकर हमारे इमान को मजबूत बनाने की दिशा में प्रयास करें, सभी मेह्दावियों के बीच अविवादित एकजुटता बनाने, और मेह्दाविया सामुदायि सेवा करें और मेह्दावी के रूप में अपनी पहचान बनाए रखने के लिए हमसे हात जोड़ें. और दूसरों तक इस संदेश का प्रसार करने के लिए और दान जुटाने हमारी मदद करें.

There are around 500 families with an approximate population ofabout 2500 dwelling in south Bangalore. The majority of them are in Bismillah Nagar, BTM Layout, Jayanagar, JP Nagar, Krishnappa Garden, LIC Colony, Mico Layout, Tank Garden, Tilak Nagar, Guruppanpalya, Byrasandra, Rajanna Layout.

To cater to all the socio-religious activities of mahdavis in south bangalore there is a strong need to have a community hall (jamath khana)

The mean distance from these localities to the nearest Mahdavi Jamat khanas are as below;

• Matadahalli-15 KMs,
• Nayandhalli-12 KMs,
• Sirsi Circle-9KMs

The Basic religious requirements and their present condition, encountered by the Mehdavis of South Bangalore.

1. Daily Namaz
1. People are offering namaz at home
2. Few people are going to other masjids after their jamat to offer namaz
3. Few people started offering namaz behind others
4. Many people not at all offering namaz
2. Taravih
1. Before last year we offered taravee in Nauranga Shadi Mahal, but stopped due to the disturbance of a local priest
2. Last year offered 1st Taravee in Salaam Center but they denied space, for 2nd & 3rd taravee as we wanted to pray behind our own imam. Hence we have to make an alternate arrangement for the next 2 taravees
3. Lailatul Qadr
1. Before last year we used to offer lailatul Qadr in Nauranga Shadi Mahal, but stopped due to the disturbance of a local priest
2. Last year we hired a different Community hall and offered the Lailatul Qadr
4. Eidain
1. We either go to our natives or to Suman house (9 km) where the MMCT makes arrangement
5. Behr-e-Aam
1. Some time we go to the MMCT Jamat Khana in Sirsi Circle or to Channapatna.
2. Many People miss this opportunity
6. Taalim
1. Those who know will give talim at home
2. Few send their kids to non Mehdavi Madarasas/masajids
3. Many don’t get proper talim

We have listed just the religious requirements living aside the social requirements. If we count them the list will never ending. The common reason for this condition is that “we don’t have our own place to do our activities“

Now MMF is procuring a piece of land which is centrally located to the all the South Bangalore localities, where the Mehdavia Populations are residing. The proposed Jamat Khana is Easy to access, Very near to Main road, ample Parking Facility and more over it is situated in Peaceful area in Bhavani Layout Off Bannerghatta Road in south Bangalore.

Why Jamat Khana? Why not a Masjid?

Jamaat khana is not a new term in Mahdaviath. The history of Mahdaviath is of more than 500 years, and Mahdavis are known for their migration (Hijrath). The fuqara in our dairas used to live in huts and did not have “pucca” houses, what they will have masajids like we have today. The fuqara used to have jamaat khanas, a common place where everyone used to gather for prayers and other religious activities. When they received orders from Allah to migrate they used to abandon these places and migrate to a new place. It is only off late that Mahdavis have started settling down at one place and building “pucca” houses and masajids. So, attributing the term Jamaat Khana only to some sects of Islam is not correct, it is a practice of our buzurgaan e deen to build jamaat khanas.

There has been a lot of thinking done behind this and strategically this institution has been named as Jamaat Khana. I will mention a few points below for your understanding.

Masjid

1. Used for the purpose of Namaz and other religious activities.
2. A madrasa can be run in a Masjid .
3. It cannot be used as a function hall for small functions.
4. A Mahdavia youth hostel cannot be run in a masjid.
5. If we don’t maintain our masjid properly and don’t offer the daily prayers, other sects of Islam can capture this masjid as it is now happening in our community.
6. A Masjid cannot be sold.

Jamaat Khana

1. It will also serve the purpose of Namaz and other religious activities.
2. A Jamaat khana can also run a madrasa.
3. It can be used as a function hall also for small functions.
4. A Mahdavia youth hostel can be run at a jamaat khana for the purpose of serving the poor students and other mahdavis coming to the city and for generating income for its maintenance.
5. If Jamaat khana is not being maintained properly and daily prayers are not being offered, we can lock it and keep it under our control.
6. Jamaat khana can be sold, if we need to migrate to another place for any reason.

To summarize, everything that can be done in a masjid can be done in a Jamaat khana, and if it is not done it will still be a property of the Mahadavia community.

Above I have tried to list down some differences between Jamaat khana and Masjid, would like to hear from the online Mahadavia community of what they think on this.
